About Us

We are a small, family-like clinic where we care for each other and support one another when needed. The specialist physicians in our unit consist largely of former resident doctors (ST-doctors) who have chosen to stay, which we see as a strong indicator of our work environment and culture.

In recent years, we have made significant investments in internal training and supervision for our junior doctors and locum tenens physicians. This work has yielded clear results and contributed to us advancing to the top tier in the AT ranking for psychiatry placements, something we are very proud of.

Currently, six experienced specialist physicians work within the inpatient psychiatric care in Halmstad, along with several resident doctors and junior doctors. The unit comprises three wards:

• The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PIVA), which has ten beds and an emergency department directly adjacent.
• Ward 19, a general psychiatric ward with ten beds and patient-led admission spots.
• Ward 26, a general psychiatric unit with a special focus on geriatric psychiatry and psychotic disorders.

In addition, we are responsible for the ECT clinic and the LARO (Long-Acting Antipsychotic) service in our premises.

About the Role

You will serve as a specialist physician within the inpatient care and work in close collaboration with other staff and colleagues within the unit. The role includes participation in on-call duties and consulting work for the somatic clinics at Halland Hospital.

The position involves working across all wards within the inpatient care to ensure stable and even staffing. Your primary placement will be at the inpatient care in Halmstad, but assignments may also occur at the unit's other wards in Varberg and at one of our outpatient clinics.

At times, the work may require you, together with other specialists, to cover vacancies with both advance notice and short notice, which demands flexibility and adaptability.

As a clinic with a clear future focus, supervision is a central part of the role. You will supervise junior doctors as well as AT- and ST-doctors, which requires an engagement in educational matters, an interest in knowledge sharing, and a desire to develop the next generation of colleagues.

Your own professional development is also important and is planned in dialogue with the Chief Physician.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with specialist competence in psychiatry. You have a broad psychiatric interest and a commitment to development issues within the unit.

As a person, you are goal-oriented, structured, and confident in your professional role. You have good leadership skills and a well-developed communicative ability that allows you to clearly convey your clinical assessments and decisions. This communicative skill is central, both in clinical work and in collaboration within the multidisciplinary teams you are part of.

You have a strong clinical foundation and let your experience guide your work. At the same time, you have an open and non-hierarchical attitude and enjoy collaborating with other professions.

Previous and preferably longer experience of working as a specialist physician in psychiatric inpatient care is meritorious.
